***LOVING HOME NEEDED***

This is the Beautiful Betsy, a stray we had handed in to practice nearly two weeks ago and unfortunately no one has come forward for her.
Betsy has been looked after by Kelly; one of our nurses but it is now time she found somebunny to give her a furever home.
Betsy is a shy bunny who needs time spent with her, preferably in a calm environment and would also need to be neutered and vaccinated. It is possible she would enjoy bunny companionship but this would need to be done over a certain amount of time with good thought given to introductions. Her favourite foods are brocolli and hay, she will happily rest her little paws on you to take a treat and enjoys her head being stroked.
If you think you could give this beautiful girl a forever home and would like more details, please contact the practice on 01636 701523 and ask to speak to Kelly.

Meet Frankie, a 15 year old Bassett Cross keeping cool in our kennels today. It's so important to keep all animals cool in this heat, especially the 'golden oldies'! Geriatrics really do find it difficult to cope with the high temperatures. Please share pics of your pets keeping cool๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ˜Ž

This is the lovely Dotty, who came into us today for a weight and dental check. Unfortunately, Dotty had to stay with us for dental treatment, but her issues were soon corrected and she is now home. In rabbits dental issues can occur quite commonly which is why it is extremely important we see them for regular dental checks. Luckily, Dotty's owners were very proactive meaning we got her in and treated quickly. I'm sure she is being very spoilt now she is back home!

This is Minion, a beautiful 1 year old Russian Blue who has been in quite a bit of mischief in his first year of life!

At only 6 months old Minion was bought into us after a road traffic accident. He was very lucky to escape with a single fracture of his right femur which was repaired at the practice with 2 pins that you can see on the xray. Minion went on to make a full recovery and continued to be his bright playful self.

Only 5 months later little minion was involved in another accident, this time he was less fortunate and suffered a fractured pelvis and a dislocated tail. Minion has had further surgery to repair his pelvis as you can also see in the xray below. He has also had to have his tail amputated, but has been a fighter all the way through! We have all become very attached to his awesome character and he has been a delight to treat. We are all happy to say he is well on his way to a full recovery!

Hope everyone's enjoying the sunny weather and aren't too hot! Obviously in this heat we have to make sure our pets are cool and happy. Here are some tips from Dogs Trust on how to look after your animals. It is also worth noting that in the hot weather pavements can get particularly warm so please be aware that if the pavement is too hot for your feet, it'll be too hot for their paws!

Poppy is looking for a new forever home after her elderly owner sadly passed away. She has been left under the care of one of our lovely clients, who is unable to keep her due to her own doggies already at home.
She is a healthy, long haired cat with an immaculate coat, is already neutered and due to complete her vaccination course this week. She has previously been an only cat and had little contact with children so would be best suited to a household with no other pets or children around. She has lived in a quiet village so a similar lifestyle would be ideal for her.
Rehoming is something we are usually unable to assist with but we are trying to find this beautiful fluffy kitty a loving home.
If anyone is able to help at all, please get in touch with your details and we can forward them on to the necessary people, thanks โ˜บ๏ธ

Veterinary Services Newark, Nottinghamshire

Veterinary Appointments

As veterinary surgeons, we are dedicated to our patients. Our flexible consulting hours allow you to make an appointment with a vet at your convenience. We also offer an open surgery on Saturday mornings from 9.00 am to 11.30 am.

ย

Nurse Clinics

Our fantastic nurse team provides the best possible care for you and your pet. As the only veterinary nurse training practice in the area, we carefully select our staff and train them to the highest standard. This means that our nurses have the skills and knowledge to advise on all aspects of preventative health care and provide a range of services, including adolescent checks, weight and dental clubs and puppy parties.

Puppies & Kittens

Please speak to any of our staff if you are thinking of getting a new puppy or kitten. We can help you through the whole process, including micro-chipping, worming, dietary advice and insurance for those unexpected problems. We offer early-finish puppy vaccinations which enable you to start socialisation as soon as 10 weeks old. We also now offer free health checks for new puppies and kittens, and microchips are free with all puppy and kitten vaccine courses.

Day Patients

Both our cattery and kennel room are kept at a constant temperature by underfloor heating, to keep patients comfortable and snug. We offer food and water to every pet as soon as he or she has recovered from anaesthetic; particularly important because most cats and dogs will not have eaten for 12 hours before surgery. Most importantly, we always give our day patients lots of fuss and attention to make them feel at home.

Operations

Although any anaesthetic carries a risk, there are many ways we minimise this. These include close monitoring of heart-rate by our team of experienced and trained nurses. We also ensure all animals remain warm throughout their operation, using heated tables, pads and bedding: this minimises heat loss. Monitoring after surgery is also vital. With the modern drugs we use, risks are very low. Our most recent clinical audit revealed a 100% survival rate in 100s of patients, despite the fact that many were elderly or sick pets.

Equipment

We are committed to investing in state of the art equipment to give you and your pet access to the best possible facilities. Ultrasound is now offered and can be very useful in the diagnosis of both abdominal and chest conditions, as well as for pregnancy scanning. We also have a digital x-ray machine, giving fantastic pictures much more quickly than older systems and reducing anaesthetic time. In both cases you will be shown the pictures on your pet's file when he or she goes home.
